Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about TimeSave.

Does TimeSave collect my personal data?
No. The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Video detection, downloading, and MP4 conversion all happen locally inside your browser. Nothing is ever sent to an external server.
Which video formats can it download?
Three major types: HLS streaming (.m3u8), DASH streaming (.mpd), and direct files such as MP4, WebM, and MOV. HLS streams are downloaded segment-by-segment and merged into a single MP4 inside your browser using ffmpeg.wasm.
Why does the icon show no videos on a page?
TimeSave detects videos from network requests. If the page was already open before the extension was installed, or the video hasn't started loading yet, no address is captured. Refresh the page and press Play — the badge should update within a few seconds.
